What to Do When There are No Waves in Siargao
Siargao is one of the most popular surfing destinations in the Philippines, and it’s no wonder why. With its perfect waves, beautiful coastline, and warm weather, it’s the perfect place for surfers to get away from it all. But even in this paradise, there are days when the waves are too small or nonexistent. Don’t despair! There are plenty of activities you can do in Siargao even when there are no waves. - Skate at the Bravo Bowl or at SHAKABRAH – One of the best ways to pass the time when there are no waves in Siargao is to go skating. The Bravo Bowl is a skate park to keep any skater entertained. There’s also SHAKABRAH, a mini-ramp and bowl skate park located in the Santa Fe area. Bravo skate park is for more advanced levels and Shakabrah is for all levels, so grab your board and get shredding!
- Visit Neighboring Islands – Siargao is surrounded by several other beautiful islands. Take a boat or ferry over to Bucas Grande and explore the lagoons and crystal-clear waters. Don’t forget to try the famous “tamilok” (wood-worm) dish! Other islands to explore include Dinagat, Siargao’s neighbor to the north, and the islands of Guyam, Mam-on, and Corregidor Island(with a great hike), all of which can be reached by ferry or boat.
- A Food Trip Up North – Siargao is home to some of the Philippines’ most delicious dishes. Take a trip up north to the town of Pacifico and try Trogon’s Perch a restaurant with amazing food and views. Or head over to the town of Burgos to sample the famous “halo-halo” (shaved ice and fruit dessert). There’s also the town of Santa Monica, where you can find some of the country’s best seafood dishes.
- Do Wakeboarding at the Wakepark – For those looking for a bit of an adrenaline rush, the Wakepark in Siargao is the perfect spot for wakeboarding. With its man-made lagoons and ramps, it’s a great place to practice your tricks and show off your skills. Plus, the nearby beach is a great place to relax and take in the views.
- Water Sports at Bravo – There are plenty of water sports to be enjoyed at Bravo Beach. From kitesurfing(when season), eFoils, and more.
- Visit the Tourist Spots – Siargao is home to some of the Philippines’ most stunning tourist spots. One of the most popular is Magpupungko Rock Pools, located in the town of Pilar. Here, you can enjoy a dip in crystal-clear waters and explore the many caves. Other must-see attractions include the Sugba Lagoon, Cloud 9 beach, and the Guyam Island Lighthouse.
